My 2016 Make Nine

My 2016 Make Nine

Hope the new year is treating you well!  During my long weekend of indolence, I’ve accomplished a little sewing (albeit mostly unpicking), but mostly I did boring housework and lounged about in my pjs.  During all this procrastination, I couldn’t help but waste time on Instagram, and of course stalking sewing blogs.  In all this digital wandering, I kept coming across the #2016makeNine.  Ginger over at Ginger Makes, and Rochelle at Lucky Lucille blogged it, along with others who I can’t seem to name, and it got me  wondering, what nine patterns would I pick?  My sewing list in constantly changing based on new pattern releases and fun fabric, but here’s where I stand as of January 4, 2016:

Closet Case Files Ginger Jeans

Just going through all these, I’m really stoked to sew a new pattern again.  What are your sewing plans for 2016?

A Belated Anniversary & a Merry Christmas!

A Belated Anniversary & a Merry Christmas!

I’ve always been terrible at remembering birthdays/anniversaries/etc., but even I can’t believe I missed the one year anniversary of my blog!  Happy anniversary, self!  Do better next year, okay?  In all seriousness, thank you for letting me ramble, and for looking at all my wonky stitching.  Let’s look at some of things I’ve subjected your eyeballs to this year, shall we?

It’s been quite a year!!! I hope you’ve all enjoyed it as much as I have. I’m busy prepping for Christmas, but I wanted to share some sneak peeks of future posts, plus one adorable (albeit shittily done) Christmas puppy collage.

My Christmas party frock, just waiting to be photographed and posted ;)

Minerva Crafts Q&A!!!

Minerva Crafts Q&A!!!

Capture

Hey guys, exciting news!!! I was recently asked to do a guest Q&A for Minerva Crafts, and it’s gone live today! It still seems so foreign to me that anyone wants to hear my opinion, but I’m immensely appreciative, anyway.

Minerva Crafts is a really cool site, based across the pond, with some of the most gorgeous fabrics I’ve seen around. The Cincinnati area is full of quilting stores, but if you’re looking for something other than quilting cotton, and Joann’s doesn’t float your boat, you’re basically shit out of luck :/ So a new online resource is always a plus for me. Also…I can’t help but think of Minerva McGonagall, no? The more Harry Potter references I have, the happier I am! So go check them out and show my Q&A some love, pretty pretty please.

Me-Made-May’15

Me-Made-May’15

I’m pretty excited to announce that I’ll be participating in Me-Made-May’15!  What is Me-Made-May?  It’s a challenge created by a wonderful sewing blogger, and you can read all about it  here. I’ve already started sprucing up past makes in preparation!

Me-Made-May’15 is a bit of a custom challenge, in that each participant gets to define how often they’ll wear their garments. A no pressure, no stress challenge. How often am I doing it? Well, here’s my pledge:

“I, Ashley of Sewn By Ashley, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’15. I endeavor to wear at least two me-made garments each week for the duration of May 2015.”

Why only two? Well, a bit of my makes are winter or special occasion only, and I’m afraid I just don’t have enough garments yet to do it more often! All my upcoming projects are fairly complicated, so…those may be a little slow in coming. However, I’m looking forward to sharing some of my completed makes with you all!
